    HawkEye 360 launches advanced GNSS interference detection capabilities

    HawkEye 360 has made powerful enhancements to its GNSS Interference (GNSS-I) Detection product suite. The upgrades — designed with defense, intelligence and national security operations in mind — offer unprecedented accuracy, coverage and insight into global GPS jamming and spoofing threats.

    The update includes a new wider frequency algorithm that better distinguishes individual emitters, incorporates GPS spoofing detection, and is terrain adjusted for better geolocation accuracy, delivering greater situational awareness and more precise geolocation of interference sources worldwide.

    HawkEye 360’s enhanced GNSS Interference Detection product suite supports strategic decision-making by providing timely, precise insight into potential signal disruptions, enabling stakeholders to better assess risk, respond confidently, and maintain operational continuity in dynamic environments.

    With this release, HawkEye 360’s GNSS-I Detection product suite now provides:

    • 15 times increase in geolocation density
    • Spoofing detection and differentiation
    • Terrain adjusted for increased accuracy
    • Consistent monitoring across wide areas of interest

    HawkEye 360’s new spoofing detection capability identifies potentially malicious transmitters that imitate legitimate GPS course/acquisition (PRN) codes — a tactic increasingly used to deceive aircraft and mislead navigation systems. The capability supports threat mitigation and trend analysis by detecting and geolocating these spoofers down to a kilometer-level precision.

  • Loctronix Advances GNSS Integrity Monitoring with HGX Interference Detection System

    Loctronix Corporation, a provider of positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) solutions for GNSS-challenged environments, has unveiled the HGX Interference Detection System (IDS) for identifying and monitoring intentional and unintentional interference sources. The IDS is being demonstrated September 10-11 at ION GNSS+ 2014, in Tampa, Florida.

    “The IDS can detect sources of interference ranging between 5 dB and 60 dB GNSS jamming to signal (J/S) ratio. Featuring a novel profiling function, the IDS not only detects, but can identify the type of interference given a database of known/previously recorded profiles,” stated Michael Mathews, Loctronix’ CEO and founder.

    According to Mathews, “The greater dependence of GNSS within critical infrastructure — including, transportation, communications, finance and the growing availability of jammers — requires new tools to respond to potential threats. The IDS is the first tool to combine the powerful capabilities of Loctronix Spectral Compression Positioning (SCP) technology for identification and characterization of signals with traditional GNSS signal processing to provide full situational awareness of GPS/GNSS operations. The IDS system will benefit government, military, and commercial/industrial applications wherever there is a critical dependence upon quality GNSS data.”

    The IDS was developed using the Loctronix HGX hybrid sensor toolkit along with the company’s ASR-2300 ASR Workbench software defined radio platform. The standard implementation supports L1 GNSS bands and measurement rates of 10 measurements per second. Partner-licensed custom/solutions can support multiple bands (such as L2, L5) with greater bandwidths and measurement rates. Multiple sensitivity modes enable monitoring of sub-thermal and high-power interference.

    ITT Exelis Offers Signal Sentry to Detect Jamming Sources

    ITT Exelis is offering the Signal Sentry 1000, a proprietary product  that detects, geolocates, and characterizes sources of intentional and unintentional interference to the U.S. GPS signals, and provides actionable intelligence to the user.

    The system leverages GNSS signal domain knowledge, and is based upon patented technology developed through the company’s history of designing and fielding electronic intelligence systems, ITT Exelis said.

    Leveraging Exelis GNSS signal domain knowledge, the system is implemented using commercially available GPS receiver and computer server/data technology. Actionable intelligence is available in the form of pin mapping of interference sources in addition to longitude/latitude/altitude data, all available through a web-enabled graphical user interface.

    Signal Sentry 1000 can assist efforts to ensure GPS spectrum integrity and aid in law enforcement operations that require GPS availability. Benefits for users include:

    • Instantaneous identification and geolocation of jamming sources, improving situational awareness.

  • J-Shield from JAVAD to Counter Interference

     

    JAVAD GNSS announces that it has improved its GNSS protection filters, not only to protect the L1 band against all interferences (including LightSquared 10L, 10H and 10R handset), but to protect against all other interferences which may come in any other GNSS band.

    The company calls its improved filter the J-Shield, and states that it will “help make the bands near any GNSS band free for other usages like broadband wireless, which the United States desperately needs to catch up with other nations, as currently the United States is number 16 in the world [in broadband capacity], and to help to create competition to potentially reduce U.S. wireless broadband costs to 1/3 of what they are today.”

    CEO and founder Javad Ashjaee will present details on the J-Shield on Thursday, September 20, at the ION-GNSS conference in Nashville, Tennessee, in a talk titled “All about GNSS Interferences and Jammers.”

    The talk will cover:

    1. Where does interference come from?
    2. How to know, view, quantify and analyze interference.
    3. How to protect against interferences.
    4. Implementation of these features in JAVAD GNSS’s mass-produced commercial products.
    5. Introduction of the J-Shied for all GNSS bands.

    The company will also have an exhibit on the ION-GNSS show floor in the Nashville Convention Center, from Wednesday, September 19 to Friday, September 21.
