    Regulus Cyber, creator of what it calls “anti-virus” software to protect GPS navigation and timing across a wide range of applications, is collaborating with Harman, a connected-car company.

    The software-based cybersecurity solution will be part of Harman Shield, the company’s risk-management offering for vehicle manufacturers and mobility companies.

    “We are looking forward to joining forces with Harman, a Tier 1 supplier to the automotive industry, a trusted partner to more than 50 global vehicle manufacturers. Coming together with Harman is a great testament to the necessity of GPS protection measures in our industry,” said Yonatan Zur, CEO of Regulus Cyber.

    The Regulus Pyramid GNSS is a software solution that uses machine learning to detect spoofing and defend any GNSS receiver, device or chipset against it — ensuring the security and reliability that are essential to safe and accurate navigation. GPS spoofing attacks are becoming more common and are often difficult to detect and protect against.

    Pyramid GNSS uses a combination of patented algorithms, developed over years of spoofing experiments to protect against attacks at the firmware, operating system, or application level. This deal is further proof of the market demand for resilient navigation and positioning at a time when GPS hacking is a growing concern.

    Autotalks’ second-generation chipsets have been selected by Harman International to provide the vehicle-to-everything (V2X) chipset for the Harman telematics platform. The platform will be showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show, taking place Jan. 8-11 in Las Vegas.

    With V2X, all vehicles share location, speed and trajectory, giving drivers warnings of on-road dangers. Autotalks’ second-generation chipsets are mass-market ready and support both DSRC and C-V2X direct communications (PC5 protocol).

    Harman is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., focused on connected technologies for automotive, consumer and enterprise markets.

    Harman will showcase a connectivity display of its telematics platform with C-V2X capabilities. The live demonstration will show a vehicle communicating with a motorcycle using C-V2X direct communications (the Autotalks chipset is used in both).

    Harman’s solution consists of a modular telematics control unit (TEC) accommodating a cellular network access device (NAD) beside Autotalks’ second-generation chipset providing C-V2X capabilities. Autotalks C-V2X capabilities consist of a 3GPP compliant PC5 modem, with dual antenna and diversity for both transmission and reception, as well as an optimized closed-loop remote antenna solution for the highest radio performance.

    Autotalks’ V2X chipset is now available for customer and partner demonstrations.

  • Harman offers connected car program for service providers

    Harman International Industries has announced 10 new workflow, content and data service providers for the company’s Open Service Delivery Platform for the connected car.

    Harman made the announcement at the Mobile World Congress, taking place Feb. 22-25 in Barcelona, Spain.

    The service providers can provide automakers and drivers with a wide range of accurate, context-based and relevant services including real-time traffic and location-based services, shopping, parking, streaming audio and live news.

    Service providers include TomTom, Parkopedia, AccuWeather, Yelp, INRIX, CustomWeather, Deezer, AccuRadio, Wcities and NPR. The new services will be available to automakers for their connected car configurations.

    The Service Provider Program is a worldwide initiative available to workflow, content, data and service providers who are looking to bring their services to automakers, vehicles, drivers and passengers faster, while focusing on near-term opportunities in the automotive industry.

    By leveraging the industry’s leading enterprise cloud services platform, automakers can deploy a variety of services including infotainment and navigation, new software features after vehicle sale, vehicle data to predict part failures, forecasting for preventative maintenance, and analysis of warranty claims, Harman said.

    The Harman Service Delivery Platform is a comprehensive foundation with a collection of core services, third-party services and management features, fully integrated with vehicle systems and updated seamlessly over the air.
