  • Hexagon software integrates natively with SAP HANA

    Hexagon Geospatial has released a GeoMedia data server for SAP HANA, enabling enterprise business and geographic information system (GIS) users to run spatial and non-spatial business applications and processes within the SAP HANA platform.

    Developed by Hexagon Safety & Infrastructure with support from SAP, the native integration between Hexagon’s GeoMedia and SAP HANA coordinates data and processes across different SAP HANA platforms, helping improve accuracy, reliability and efficiency, which can reduce costs and errors.

    The new data server pushes down query and analysis of spatial and business data directly into SAP HANA, enabling direct read/write access at the object and feature level. Through the integration, users can perform spatial queries and advanced analytics, manage spatial relationships and visualize the results for industry-specific uses, providing new opportunities for operational reporting, predictive analytics and more to benefit their businesses.

    The commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) integration is designed to be faster, easier to implement and more sustainable than integrations built with custom commands and web services. Hexagon joins a growing list of GIS vendors that integrate their offerings natively with SAP HANA.

    This integration leverages GeoMedia from the Producer Suite in Hexagon Geospatial’s Power Portfolio of desktop, web and mobile geospatial applications and Hexagon Safety & Infrastructure’s industry-specific applications for utilities, telecommunications, transportation, public works and other functions.

  • Hexagon launches M.App Chest cloud app

    Hexagon Geospatial has officially launched M.App Chest, a cloud-based application associated with Hexagon Smart M.App.

    In September, Hexagon Geospatial introduced the M.App Chest Early Access Program, which provided an opportunity for users to test out the new cloud-based innovation for storing, managing and distributing large volumes of geospatial data.

    M.App Chest provides a means to quickly upload, organize and share imagery and point cloud data in the cloud. It also provides optional compression capabilities along with streaming and delivery via web services.

Clearly, today’s organizations need the right tools for managing and leveraging high volumes of data,” said Mladen Stojic, President of Hexagon Geospatial. “M.App Chest provides a better experience for easily uploading, storing and sharing geospatial data in ways that can transform any organization.”

    Following are key features and benefits of M.App Chest:

    • View M.App Chest Data Online: The free M.App Reader allows users to view data online with interactive roam and zoom tools. Data from M.App Chest can also be consumed into other applications via web services.

  • Hexagon Geosystems Releases More Airborne Imagery

    The Hexagon Imagery Program, or HxIP, has released captured airborne imagery for approximately 25 percent of the U.S. with various regions of Canada and Europe. As more content partners join the HxIP in 2015, program coverage is rapidly increasing with full coverage of the coterminous U.S. expected by the end of the year.

    Launched in June 2014, the HxIP streams valuable geospatial content and delivers professional-grade airborne images captured with Leica Geosystems’ airborne sensors, including enhanced-resolution, four-band orthos, streamable and rasterised point clouds, and stereo imagery, through two service categories:

    • Basemap offers cached background maps of current 30 centimeter orthorectified imagery that will be updated on a regular basis.
    • Multispectral Imagery supports image analysis and exploration activities with 30-centimeter, four-band orthorectified imagery and related digital surface models (DSM).

    Imagery for a full 11 states plus portions of six other states in the U.S. have been provided in the HxIP as part of its airborne imagery offerings from the 2014 flying season. Portions of Canada and Europe are also available in the recent release.

    The HxIP airborne imagery content is available through the cloud via multiple content service providers:

    Through a distribution partnership with Esri in February, the 2014 collection is now available to even more users on Esri’s ArcGIS Marketplace.
