    Korec and NCTech launched KlearView360°, a streamlined, hosted system designed for the identification of assets, defects or changes within images collected by vehicle or backpack.

    According to the companies, KlearView360° makes vehicle-mounted asset inspection accessible to local authorities and many others. KlearView360° combines NCTech’s iSTAR Pulsar+ high resolution camera with Korec’s K-Portal cloud-based hosting solution for live progress monitoring.

    KlearView360°, which is accessible through a standard web browser, enables work management instructions to be communicated to mobile workers for issue resolution via Korec’s K-Mobile data capture software.

    “Historically these types of solutions have been very expensive, but the KlearView360° integration with the iSTAR Pulsar+ means that we can put vehicle mounted inspection into the hands of local authorities, highways engineers and consultants, utilities and many more in an affordable and effective way,” said Richard Gauchwin, business area manager at Korec.

    KlearView360° also offers a cost-effective and simple way to add the iSTAR Pulsar’s high resolution 360-degree imagery to existing GIS datasets hosted within ArcGIS or QGIS via K-Portal’s dynamic link, and provides rapid video playback to review driven routes, the companies added.

  • NCTech to unveil iSTAR Pulsar developments at Intergeo 2018

    NCTech, a developer of reality imaging systems, will showcase its iSTAR Pulsar mobile 360-degree data capture system at Intergeo in Frankfurt, Germany.

    Companies at Intergeo, including GeoSLAM and Orbit Geospatial Technologies, will also unveil innovative developments that incorporate iSTAR Pulsar.

    iSTAR Pulsar is NCTech’s professional edge-to-cloud big data system, optimized for capture on the move. iSTAR Pulsar is designed to capture 360-degree data while mounted on a vehicle, drone or on foot.

    At Intergeo, NCTech will be showing a demonstration of a future feature in its cloud-based processing software VR.WORLD that uses artificial intelligence and image recognition to analyze the images captured by iSTAR Pulsar. This means that objects like cars, trucks, traffic lights, road signs, pedestrians and cyclists can be automatically identified in images, the company said.

    Handheld 3D mobile mapping company GeoSLAM also will introduce new developments at Intergeo, including an innovation that integrates with iSTAR Pulsar.

    “We immediately saw the potential for collaboration when NCTech introduced the iSTAR Pulsar,” said Mark Reid, head of strategic business development, GeoSLAM. “And now we’re excited to show the attendees at Intergeo what we’ve been working on.”

    Orbit GT has updated its mobile mapping software to enable iSTAR Pulsar data to be integrated into its smart 3D mapping solutions.

    “We’re very pleased to announce that Orbit GT solutions now support data from NCTech’s iSTAR Pulsar,” said Peter Bonne, CEO, Orbit GT. “We’ll be showcasing the great 360-degree imagery captured by iSTAR Pulsar at our booth.”

    “We launched iSTAR Pulsar earlier this year, so it’s great to see that key industry players like GeoSLAM and Orbit GT are already leveraging its capabilities in their own developments,” said Andrew Baddeley, technical sales director, NCTech. “Combined with the exciting new AI developments from our labs, we look forward to showing everyone at Intergeo how we are helping to virtualize the world.”

  • Leica Geosystems, NCTech Streamline Workflows, Improve Productivity

    Leica Geosystems has teamed with NCTech, developer of reality imaging systems, to deliver automated, colorized 3D point clouds. In Leica Cyclone, 3D point cloud processing software, users can now automatically import and align high-dynamic range (HDR) data from NCTech’s iSTAR camera database, producing enhanced deliverables quicker and easier, Leica Geosystems said.

    “It is not only about attractive images but also the accuracy to which these images fit the 3D point cloud data that is paramount, and NCTech’s iSTAR camera produces high-quality HDR imaging at the accuracy everyone expects,” said Faheem Khan, vice president, business development for Leica Geosystems High-Definition Surveying (HDS). “Including this capability directly into Leica Cyclone provides fully optimized workflows for maximum productivity. This starts from data collection through to deliverable production that leverage new products, such as Leica TruView Global and JetStream to tackle the increasingly complex challenge of multi-platform, multi-device and multi-discipline project delivery.”

    Previously, Leica Cyclone users accessed iSTAR imagery database through NCTech’s ColourCloud software application, which produced colourised point clouds in E57 format. With the new partnership, export and re-import of this highly-accurate data is eliminated, speeding up and simplifying the overall 3D point cloud creation process.

    “We are excited to collaborate with Leica Geosystems on this development, which provides direct access for Leica Cyclone users across the world to colourise their point clouds using iSTAR’s panoramic HDR imaging,” said Cameron Ure, CEO of NCTech. “With our iSTAR products, we are focussed on capturing the most accurate colour data as rapidly as possible, and everyone benefits when that data is seamlessly integrated into our partners’ applications.”
