LizardTech, a provider of software solutions for managing and distributing geospatial content,  is announcing the newest addition to its product line at the 2014 Esri International User Conference this week. LizardTech GeoGofer is a software solution for finding geospatial imagery quickly and efficiently and will be available later this summer.

The conference takes place in San Diego, California, where LizardTech will demonstrate GeoGofer in booth #1516.

GeoGofer was designed to streamline the process of finding, organizing, and tracking geospatial imagery. GeoGofer comes with powerful search and filter features to find imagery by keyword, by projection, by file format and more, LizardTech said. With GeoGofer, users can browse all of their imagery on a single map, tag images for later use, and perform powerful queries using simple tools. Users can search by modification date, by number of bands, or by resolution to find the imagery they need.

GeoGofer integrates fully with Esri technology. GeoGofer uses an existing ArcGIS Online subscription to store and query image information. If users have ArcMap installed on the same machine that runs GeoGofer, they can open images directly in ArcMap.

Those interested in GeoGofer can enter their names at www.lizardtech.com/geogofer to be notified of the product launch later this summer.

  • GIS 2go for Offline Maps to Be Demonstrated at Intergeo

Disy Informationssysteme GmbH will present GIS 2go at Intergeo 2013, being held this week in Essen, Germany. GIS 2go transfers maps from ArcGIS Desktop to an iPad or Android tablet. With the associated app, users can access their own maps without a network connection while they are on the road.

Intergeo is the world’s largest conference and trade fair for geodesy, geoinformation and land management. From October 8-10, visitors to stand D1.045 in hall 1 can experience GIS 2go live and meet with experts and developers in person.

GIS 2go allows maps to be taken along with the user, from Esri’s ArcGIS Desktop to a tablet (iPad or Android). With the GIS 2go Add-in, the data selection, the map export and the re-import are controlled via the cloud in ArcGIS Desktop. On the tablet, the “Cadenza Mobile GIS 2go App” allows access to the maps with all feature data — be it with or without a network connection. Even graphic notes and media created on the go are taken over into ArcGIS Desktop.

On the tablet, users can move interactively on the map; display feature attributes; add points, lines and areas with the graphic notebook; or track via GPS; augment the map with photos and audio/video clips or simply use text to comment on it. The information recorded remotely will be imported later into ArcGIS Desktop and taken over into the data storage.

  • Esri Releases Video: Leveraging ArcPad with ArcGIS Online

Esri released a video describing how to leverage ArcPad with ArcGIS Online.

According to the ArcPad Team Blog , if you are already using ArcPad and ArcGIS Online (or are looking at integrating ArcGIS Online into your organization), this video will give you some ideas on how these products work together to support your field work workflows.

ArcPad Packages (available since December 2012) are the key to this relationship. The ability to distribute ArcPad Templates and Packages using ArcGIS Online could improve data transfer between remote locations, provide reliable back-up and storage for your projects or even remove the need for tethered data transfer altogether.
