    Septentrio launches AsteRx-i3, its next-gen GNSS/INS product line

    By expanding its GNSS/INS product family, Septentrio starts offering more application-specific positioning and orientation solutions

    Septentrio, a leader in high-precision GNSS positioning solutions, has launched the AsteRx-i3 — a new product line of high-performance GNSS plus inertial navigation system (INS) receivers.

    The AsteRx-i3 product family brings to market an array of next-generation receivers from plug-and-play navigation solutions to feature-rich receivers with raw measurement access. OEM boards are available for rapid integration as well as ruggedized receivers enclosed in a waterproof IP68 housing.

    The variety of products in the AsteRx-i3 line accommodates the specific needs of applications that require high-accuracy positioning together with 3D orientation, heading, pitch and roll angles.

    “Using our off-the-shelf GNSS/INS systems allows our customers to focus their efforts on core technology and to reduce their products’ time-to-market,” said Danilo Sabbatini, product manager at Septentrio. “With this new generation of products, we aim to satisfy specific needs of various customers. Instead of releasing a single general-purpose product, we bring several dedicated solutions for fastest and easiest integration into systems that require robotic navigation or sensor fusion.”

    AsteRx-i3 Pro+ receivers support either single- or dual-antenna modes. The single-antenna mode is suitable for compact and light-weight configurations. The dual-antenna mode reduces the need for movement during IMU initialization, allowing fully informed navigation from mission start.

    The AsteRx-i3 product line includes five new GNSS/INS receivers.

    • The Pro receivers offer high accuracy positioning with 3D orientation and dead-reckoning functionality for fastest and easiest plug-and-play integrations.
    • The Pro+ are the most versatile receivers providing integrated positioning and orientation along with raw measurements, in single- or dual-antenna configurations, suitable for applications with sensor fusion. One of the receivers offers an off-board inertial measurement unit (IMU), which can be mounted exactly at the alignment point of interest.

    Septentrio has launched the AsteRx-m3 Sx OEM board, a new dual-antenna receiver that combines Septentrio’s latest core GNSS technology with the SECORX-S sub-decimeter correction service to enable convenient plug-and-play positioning.

    High-accuracy positioning is available directly out of the box as GNSS corrections are automatically streamed to the receiver. This significantly simplifies the user’s GNSS receiver set-up process and eliminates completely the hassle of corrections service subscription and maintenance.

    Corrections are delivered via internet or via L-band satellites ensuring sub-decimeter service even in remote locations where there is no easy internet access.

    “With the AsteRx-m3 Sx, we combine our latest GNSS innovations of the AsteRx-m3 family with the convenience of the SECORX-S always-on corrections, all in the same product,” said Danilo Sabbatini, product manager at Septentrio. “This offers higher reliability and operational efficiency to our customers, at an even lower cost.”

    With its dual-antenna configuration, AsteRx-m3 Sx offers heading information immediately from power-up, allowing path optimization and fully informed navigation from mission start. Septentrio’s renowned GNSS+ algorithm suite ensures robust and reliable operation in challenging environments even in the presence of RF interference and under heavy vibrations, the company said.

    AsteRx-m3 Sx offers PPP-RTK sub-decimeter accuracy with fast convergence time in the U.S. and Europe.

    Septentrio has added to its integrated GPS/GNSS receiver portfolio with the AsteRx SB ProDirect, which delivers reliable high-accuracy positioning for machine navigation and control in challenging environments.

    The AsteRx SB ProDirect dual-antenna receiver is designed as an “install-and-forget” device to provide continuous positioning for demanding industrial applications, Septentrio said. It gives machines and robotics access to heading and pitch or heading and roll information immediately on power-up. This allows for trajectory path optimization and fully informed navigation from mission start.

    The AsteRx SB ProDirect is designed to provide the GNSS positioning and position-independent heading needed for robotics, machine control and similar applications. It uses either a single or dual antennas and is designed for quick integration into any machine monitoring or control system.

    Contained in a single, waterproof ruggedized box, the robust receiver uses Septentrio’s LOCK+ technology, optimizing positioning and heading performance under intense mechanical vibrations, shakes or shocks.

    Septentrio also offers housed GNSS/INS receivers with inertial integration for a full attitude solution, including heading, pitch and roll, on top of high-accuracy positioning. Integration of the AsteRx SBi’s inertial sensor allows continuous positioning and attitude even during short GNSS outages, which can happen near high structures or under foliage.
