  • LizardTech Updates Educational Licensing Program

    LizardTech, a provider of software solutions for managing and distributing digital content, is offering its complete product line to the students and faculty of higher education institutions for use in a research and teaching environment. Included in the program are the latest versions of GeoExpress, Express Server, LiDAR Compressor, and GeoGofer.

    To promote research and learning, LizardTech has included GeoExpress 9 in the educational licensing program. GeoExpress is a tool for compressing, manipulating, and viewing geospatial imagery. LizardTech has also included Express Server 9, an image server that students and faculty can use to share geospatial imagery with other researchers and students around the world. Because LizardTech software was designed with integration in mind, students can streamline their workflow by exporting imagery from GeoExpress directly to Express Server, LizardTech said.

    The educational licensing program also includes LiDAR Compressor, which turns giant point-cloud datasets into efficient MrSID files, and GeoGofer, the newest addition to the LizardTech product line. GeoGofer is LizardTech’s new organizational tool which includes search and filter features to simplify the process of finding and accessing imagery.

    Universities, schools, and research programs can get access to one of the two education bundles offered by the educational licensing program. The first educational license bundle includes one Express Server 9 license, one LiDAR compressor license, five GeoGofer licenses, and three GeoExpress 9 floating licenses with a three terabyte network data cartridge. With this bundle, the first year of support and maintenance is required and costs $1,999. From the second year onward, the annual support and maintenance fee will be $1,999 for each year.

    The second LizardTech educational license bundle includes one Express Server 9 license, two LiDAR Compressor licenses, 10 GeoGofer licenses, and 10 GeoExpress 9 floating licenses with one 10 terabyte network cartridge. The first year of support and maintenance is required and costs $2,999. From the second year onward, the annual support and maintenance fee will be $2,999 for each year.

    The software is provided at no cost to educational institutions as a right-to-use license. The license is valid for one year from the date that support was purchased and will be renewed on an annual basis upon receipt of payment for technical support and maintenance.

  • LizardTech to Showcase Geospatial Software Solutions for Image Management

    LizardTech, a provider of software solutions for managing and distributing geospatial content, will be showcasing its products at eight conferences this fall.

    LizardTech representatives will highlight its newest product, GeoGofer, a software solution for powerful image searching and sorting. The representatives will be available for product demonstrations and to answer questions at the following shows:

    LizardTech, a provider of software solutions for managing and distributing geospatial content, has launched GeoGofer, a new addition to its product line. GeoGofer is a software solution for finding geospatial imagery quickly and efficiently, regardless of where it is located.

    GeoGofer was designed to streamline the process of finding, organizing, and tracking geospatial imagery. To that end, GeoGofer comes with powerful search and filter features that can be used to find imagery by keyword, by projection, by file format and more.

    GeCo in the Rockies — a combined conference of GIS in the Rockies and GeCo West — will be held September 22-26 in Grand Junction, Colorado.

    Two full days of presentations and workshops will showcase the projects, applications, and solutions of geospatial professionals. A special Technology Panel showcases innovators and leaders in the field, who will address “The Future of GIS.”

    LizardTech, a provider of software solutions for managing and distributing geospatial content, will exhibit at the conference and prsesent a workshop titled “Compressed Data Workflow in a GIS Environment” on September 23, hosted by LizardTech’s Regional Territory Manager Genie Hays.

She will demonstrate how to use MrSID files for imagery and LiDAR in industry tools. LizardTech GeoGofer is a software solution for finding geospatial imagery quickly and efficiently and will be available later this summer.

    The conference takes place in San Diego, California, where LizardTech will demonstrate GeoGofer in booth #1516.

    LizardTech will conduct defense-oriented demonstrations of its recently launched Express Server software product next week at the GEOINT 2013* Symposium in booth number 4079. The symposium will take place April 14 – 17 at the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa, Florida. LizardTech is a provider of software solutions for managing and distributing geospatial content.

    Express Server is image-delivery software for compressed raster imagery, including multispectral imagery. The latest version includes the ExpressZip web application for browsing, finding, and exporting imagery straight from the web browser. Users can view all of their collections and query by location, by keyword, by projection, and more. If users need to take their imagery on the go, they can use the built-in selection tools to export regions of interest. The ExpressZip application is open source and customizable.

    “We look forward to sharing Express Server 9 with the intelligence community at GEOINT next week,” said Jon Skiffington, director of product management at LizardTech. “Most LizardTech users know MrSID and how it can be used to drastically reduce image sizes while retaining visual quality.   • LizardTech Launches GeoExpress 9 at Esri Conference

    LizardTech, a provider of software solutions for managing and distributing geospatial content, announced the launch of GeoExpress9 at this week’s Esri International User Conference in San Diego, California, where the company is also a Platinum Imagery Sponsor and exhibitor in booth number 1704.

    GeoExpress enables geospatial professionals to compress and manipulate satellite and aerial imagery and the latest version features a significant performance improvement from previous versions, LizardTech said. The latest version is four times faster than before with support for spanning multiple jobs across multiple cores. This increase in speed enables users to complete projects faster than ever before within the application.

    This release also introduces Intelligent Encoding, with the software automatically reconfiguring itself for optimal performance. GeoExpress 9 automatically chooses to Encode, Optimize or Update based on the encoding operations that the user chooses, which results in high performance with minimal training, LizardTech said.

    In addition, Jon Skiffington, LizardTech’s director of product management, will introduce GeoExpress 9 to the Esri attendees by giving a Demo Theater presentation titled “LizardTech – What’s New with MrSID and GeoExpress” on Wednesday, 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. at the Imagery Island Exhibit in Exhibit Hall C.

    “This is going to be an exciting week for LizardTech,” said Skiffington. “We’re launching the latest version of our flagship product, GeoExpress with its new features, faster performance and updated user interface. We look forward to showing our customers the new features and receiving feedback from our users and partners.”

    LizardTech will also host product demonstrations in its booth to showcase the new features of GeoExpress 9. These presentations will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., with a final presentation held on Thursday at 10 a.m. Product demonstrations of Express Server software for high-performance delivery and publication and LiDAR Compressor software, which turns giant point cloud datasets into efficient MrSID files will also be available.

  • LizardTech Publishes GeoExpress Best Practices Guide

    LizardTech announced the release of the GeoExpress Best Practices Guide at the Autodesk University Conference 2009 in Las Vegas, where the company is exhibiting in booth #345 this week.

    The GeoExpress Best Practices Guide is a printable key designed to help navigate the many workflows available using LizardTech GeoExpress software, and provide users with the best settings and options to use for optimal image quality and performance. Many of the decisions that are made and the options that are selected in compressing, manipulating and publishing imagery have impacts for downstream users.

    “LizardTech’s goal is to provide our users with information to understand and use best practices so that they and their end users can get the most out of their imagery,” said Jon Skiffington, director of marketing.

  • LizardTech MrSID Generation 4 Files Now Supported in Global Mapper

    LizardTech announced the integration of its MrSID Generation 4 (MG4) SDK into Global Mapper version 11.01. Until recently, Global Mapper’s customers were not able to load point cloud datasets that were compressed to MrSID Generation 4 using LiDAR Compressor into Global Mapper. However, with the addition of support for MG4 in Global Mapper version 11.01 users can load point cloud datasets compressed to MrSID Generation 4 for use in volumetric analysis, contour generation, and visualization.

    “Adding MG4 integration to the latest version of Global Mapper is just another step to ensure that our customers have as many mapping tools possible at their fingertips,” said Mike Childs, Global Mapper Software LLC. “Based on user feedback, we believe this integration with LizardTech will bring added value to our customers.”

    “LizardTech’s goal is to give customers tools for using their point cloud data compressed with LiDAR Compressor in the applications they use every day,” said Jon Skiffington, LizardTech’s director of marketing. “Many of our customers use Global Mapper, but were not able to use it with MrSID files created in LiDAR Compressor. Now our customers can easily load point cloud datasets compressed to MrSID Generation 4
    into Global Mapper.”

  • ESRI Con: LizardTech Unveils MrSID Compression for Raw LiDAR Data

    LizardTech’s LiDAR Compressor can convert cloud data into MrSID files that retain 100 percent of the original raw data at just 25 percent of the file size, according to the company.

    Derivatives can be extracted repeatedly from LiDAR files compressed to MrSID, LizardTech said. It can also reportedly reduce LiDAR file sizes by up 90 percent with no perceptible loss. The company introduced the LiDAR Compressor at the 2009 ESRI International User Conference in San Diego this week.

    LizardTech also unveiled an improved version of the MrSID format called MrSID Generation 4 (MG4). MG4 MrSID files support the compression of LiDAR data, which will allow users to view and access their LiDAR data faster, LizardTech said.

  • LizardTech Hosting Application Video Series

    Celartem Inc.’s LizardTech has launched a series of videos that focus on different LizardTech applications and will appear regularly on its corporate Web site.

    The series begins with a video showing Express Server in action with applications such as AutoCAD Map 3D and other programs to access imagery via WMS, according to the company. Additional videos will reportedly be posted in the weeks to come.
