    PNT for the warfighter

    The Institute of Navigation’s Military Division hosted the 2023 Joint Navigation Conference (JNC 2023) for the Department of Defense and  the Department of Homeland Security, in San Diego, June 12 to 15. JNC, the largest U.S. military positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) conference of the year, was attended by 1,162 people. The theme of this year’s conference was “Enhancing Dominance and Resilience for Warfighting and Homeland Security PNT” and it focused on technical advances in PNT with emphasis on joint development, test and support of affordable PNT systems, logistics and integration.     More than 3,600 professionals, business owners, thought leaders and media analysts from 77 countries met in Las Vegas on June 12 to 15 for HxGN LIVE Global, Hexagon’s largest event of the year. In his opening keynote address, the company’s president and CEO, Paolo Guglielmini, announced an exclusive new collaboration between Hexagon and Nvidia to transform industrial digital twin solutions that unite reality capture, manufacturing twins, AI, simulation and visualization to deliver real-time comparison to real-world models using NVIDIA Omniverse, a platform for developing and operating industrial metaverse applications. The conference included panel discussions, general sessions and break-out sessions with presentations by industry experts, as well as hands-on demonstrations in the exhibit hall, called The Zone. Other events included a Women in Tech lunch and a  huge party on Wednesday night.

    At the Joint Navigation Conference in San Diego, BAE Systems unveiled NavGuide, an assured-positioning, navigation and timing (A-PNT) device featuring M-code GPS technology. NavGuide is a field-installable replacement to the defense advanced GPS receiver (DAGR), designed for quick integration into current DAGR mounts and accessories without mission interruption.

    NavGuide features a 3 in, full-color, graphical user interface for dismounted soldiers, and easily integrates with existing mounted platforms and systems. The device leverages the advanced M-code GPS signal with enhanced jamming and spoofing protection.

    NavGuide is portable, versatile, and precise, and enables vehicular, handheld, sensor, and gun laying applications that enable the military to defeat adversaries in a variety of challenging threat environments.

    Abstracts for Joint Navigation Conference (JNC) 2023, “Enhancing Dominance and Resilience for Warfighting and Homeland Security PNT,” are due Feb. 3. JNC 2023 is the largest United States military positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) conference of the year with joint service and government participation.

    The Institute of Navigation’s Military Division will host the conference June 12-15 at the Town and Country Hotel in San Diego. The event will be open to all conference participants, exhibitors, their employees and related organizations. All materials displayed in the exhibit hall will be publicly released after review.

    The event will focus on advances in PNT with an emphasis on joint development, testing and support of affordable PNT systems, logistics and integration. Additionally, the conference will cover advances in battlefield applications of GPS, critical strengths and weaknesses of field navigation devices, warfighter PNT requirements and solutions and navigation warfare.

    Abstracts must be written for public release with the intent to present in a Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) U.S. only environment. Abstracts not approved for public release will not be accepted.

    The Institute of Navigation is seeking abstracts for the 2023 Joint Navigation Conference (JNC 2023) for the Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security. The Military Division of the Institute of Navigation will host the conference taking place June 11-15 in San Diego.

    The exhibit hall will be open to all conference participants, exhibitors, their employees and related organizations. All materials displayed in the exhibit hall shall be Publically Releasable After Review.

    The theme of this year’s conference will be “Enhancing Dominance and Resilience for Warfighting and Homeland Security PNT”.
